The Measure of Our True Selves

An important measure of our true selves is how we treat those we know can do nothing for us. Can you imagine how differently Jesus’s story would read if he had only been attentive and serving to those he felt might have been in a position to do something good or useful for him? Instead, no person – however destitute physically, monetarily, or morally – was beneath his notice. If we want to be prepared to serve alongside Jesus in eternity, we need to adopt his attitude toward people. Can we see others as Jesus did?
